Tashiding Monastery


Tashiding Monastery is a Buddhist monastery of the Nyingma sect of Tibetan Buddhism in Western Sikkim, northeastern India, which is the most sacred and holiest monasteries in Sikkim. It is described as the "Heart of Sikkim/Denzong", citing its importance of religious sacredness. It is located on top of the hill rising between the Rathong chu and the Rangeet River, 40 kilometers from Gyalshing and 19 kilometers to the southeast of Yuksam.


Yusksam


It was the first capital of Sikkim established in 1642 AD by Phuntsog Namgyal who was the first Chogyal (temporal and religious king) of Sikkim. The coronation site of the first monarch of Sikkim is known as the "Throne of Norbugang". Yuksom is where there is the Norbugang Chorten near the Norbugang throne, the place Namgyal was crowned, and several monasteries and a lake.


Phamrong falls, Yuksam


At a distance of 7 km from Yuksom and 35 km from Pelling, Phamrong Falls is a stunning waterfall situated near Pelling in West Sikkim district. Located between Yuksam and Gerethang, Phamrong is the highest waterfall of Sikkim and among the best places to visit in Pelling.


Barsey Trek


The Barsey Rhododendron trek covers the higher reaches of the Barsey Rhododendron Sanctuary in West Sikkim, which houses 13 different varieties of rhododendron species. Entire hill slopes are covered with Arboreum, Falconeri, Barbatum, Hodgsoni, and Campanulatum, the most commonly found rhododendron species in this sanctuary. The flowering season also attracts a plethora of bird species making it a delight for bird watchers. The panoramic views of the Kangchenjunga range further add to the spectacular beauty of this trek.


Singshore Bridge


Singshore Bridge, with a height of over 100 m and 240 m in length, is the highest bridge in Sikkim and the second-highest bridge in Asia. It is truly a man-made marvel that offers the spectacular base-view of immense greenery that makes it difficult to distinguish between the lowlands and the mountains. You can feel the thrill when you are standing in the middle of the bridge and the strong wind blows. The river flowing through the uneven rocks seems breathtaking along with the effusive sound of the waterfalls. It is one of the oldest bridge that connects two hills and shortens the travel time as well as the distance for the trekkers. This engineer's triumph is certainly one of the most popular tourist destinations in Sikkim.
