'Tipam' Naharkatia


In Tipam area 30km, the famous Ghilajhari Treaty between the Tai-Ahom king Jaydhvajsimha and Mughal Nabab accepted here in A.D. 1663. Close to Tipam there were numbers of Hill Salt Brines, which are extracted by the Nagas and Kacharis, later taken possession by the Tai-Ahoms. In the medieval period, Tipam region was under one of the Princes of Tai-Ahom king with the assistance of one Gohain and a Rajkhowa. there are 1000 steps to reach the Temple. the view of the Tea garden is breathtaking.
