Bomdila is 109 km from Bhalukpong and is the headquarters of West Kameng District in Arunachal Pradesh Northeast India. Bomdila is famous for its Monastery and Natural view, the Bomdila monastery comprises 3 different gompas called Upper Gompa, Middle Gompa, and Lower Gompa. Bomdila Monastery is also known as Gentse Gaden Rabgyel Lling. Hence Bomdila Monastery is also known by the name GRL Buddhist Monastery. The monastery premises also include a huge prayer hall apart from residential complexes for monks and a special Buddha Temple. It sure is one of the important tourist places of Arunachal Pradesh. Bomdila Monastery is highly revered as it is known as a major destination for Mahayana Buddhism’s Lamaistic faith. One can also watch various snow-clad mountain peaks from Bomdila including the Kangto and Gorichen Peaks which are the highest peak of the state. Upper Gompa
The upper Gompa is located on a steep hill. the Upper Gompa which is the main part of the monastery. The Upper gompa has proven to be a major tourist attraction for its peaceful Buddhist preachings. This Gompa is said to be a replica of the Tsona Gontse monastery at Tsona of southern Tibet. It is a huge campus that includes Buddha Temple a prayer hall, residential complexes for monks, a garden, a school for monks, a room for various mandalas, wax paintings. What’s more? They even had a helipad right in front of the Upper Gompa.
Middle Gompa
The middle Gompa is special because it is one of the oldest surviving Gompas of Bomdila. People from the Buddhism faith come here to pray and meditate. The Blue Medicine Buddha present in the Middle Gompa, which is also known as the Lord of Medications, as this deity is believed to cure diseases, by the locals. People perform prayers and meditation to undergo healing.
Lower Gompa
Lower Gompa is situated at the end of the main market area next to the Craft Center and Ethnographic Museum, depicting the richness of Tibetan architecture, There is a vast prayer hall inside the Lower Gompa. Popular belief says that ringing the bell of the Gompa fulfills one's wishes.
Craft Centre
The District Craft centre & Ethnographic Museum at Bomdila is a center that produces fine carpets of colorful designs and masks. A variety of carpets, Buddhist Thangkas (wall hangings), and handicrafts along with masks are produced and displayed here. The dragon design carpets are the major attraction of the museum.
Bomdila View Point
The viewpoint provides a magnanimous view of the entire West Kameng Valley. From the highest point of this place, tourists can also enjoy beautiful views of clouds congregated at the top of the Nechipu Pass.
R.R Hill, Bomdila Overview
This is the highest point of Bomdila. At this height, viewers can see the roads leading to the Bhutan border as well as the one up Tawang. Along with that, the entire panoramic view of the Himalayas surrounds the viewer.
